Studio Coast 7.9.2018: Kiryu Tour Final (Personal post)

On September 7th I went to Studio Coast in Shin-kiba to see Kiryu’s tour final. I’ve had a pretty hellish arrival in Japan this time and was not in the mood at first, but I left the mood at the hotel and went anyway. After all, I’ve followed Kiryu for many years and I’ve never seen them live before. It was about time.

It’s a pretty big arena, but not too big. I believe everybody could get a good look of the band members irrespective of spot. I ended up in front of the stage on Mitsuki Sakai’s side. There was soooo many people lining. Some fans cosplayed the band and looked so authentic that I almost doubted they were only fans.

A really nice staffmember helped me keep track of when to enter, since it’s hard to do it right when you don’t understand Japanese. We weren’t many foreigners there. I could actually only spot one except me.

The stage was beautifully decorated with lightened fabrics and giant flowers. The bandmembers all wore white and there was explosions and smoke cannons.

The concert were great, even though I missed the “closeness and contact” you get at smaller concerts. Mitsuki’s wore obviously a wig, since it was a bit poorly attached to his scalp on one side. And it’s hard – maybe impossible – for a black haired person to go that blond… 😉 Mahiro was the only one who still look like a teenager among them. I could see now that they actually have aged. Mahiro’s voice is very strong, but still he needed a lot of playback.

At one point the stage was covered by a semi-transparent projector screen which made it look like the band was playing inside an aquarium of flames and kanjis.

Takemasa did some playful dancing and they all seemed pretty energetic. I’m glad I went to see them after all. It was a great show and they played ”Kyosei” (叫声) which is one of my favorites. I put the music video to it below. 🙂

Please see visunavi’s report from the concert HERE!

Welcome! This is not an actual news site but a personal blog, run by an ordinary person who loves visual kei. This is my space where I ventilate thoughts and values and shares happenings within the scene. My goal is to make information easy to access and to support artists and movements that I admire. Especially smaller bands that need an extra push in the djungle of major bands. English is not my native tounge so please condone my linguistic mistakes.
