Vexent at Takadanobaba AREA 17.9.2017 (Personal post)

I’m on vacation in Tokyo right now and on September 17th I went to takadanobaba AREA to see 7 bands. I’ll try to post a little note about each performance in case anyone is curious. 🙂

A big thanks to the service of Ticket Japaaan who helped me to get my hands on concert tickets for this journey as well. ❤You can see all my posts from this night HERE.

Vexent
Sixth band on stage this night was Vexent. I’ve really liked the songs I’ve heard from them so far and I absolutely love “Welcome to the darkness”.

So Vexent was one of the reasons why I went to Ikebukuro in the first place and I was considering to mention them as favorite when entering the venue. (In the last second I changed my mind and said DIMLIM :-))

I hate to say it but I got a little bit surpriced by their appearance. The members seemed so young, except the singer who appeared to be older than I thought. He had a bit goofy and “exaggerated smile” that I by some reason have a problem with. I had expected somthing more deep and seductive. They weren’t bad, it just didn’t match the way I’ve pictured them. It’s entirely my fault. 🙂 They were extremely cute though and wore the same clothes as on the picture below.

They started the show – to my delight – with “Welcome to the darkness”. Mako wore a black skirt upon black pants (and blue underpants, but I don’t think we’re supposed to see that. :-P). He was very theatrical and repetitively stuck his long tounge out while making big crazy eyes. Not what I expected. 🙂

It was a good show though and Mako made some groin moves ala Ruki. ^_- Approved. He was also a good growler and screamer. I started to feel dizzy by all headbanging since I hadn’t been eating that day… and probably been drinking too little water. This was the first time I experienced a furi that included giving the band “the finger”. To me, “giving the finger”is a very rude gesture, so I can’t really do it. 😛

There was one part of “never-ending headbanging” (as I call it), same musical part in repeat for a very long time to fire up the audience. I loved it. The hair of the fans whipped the air constantly for probably 5-10 minutes. Mako danced with big steps and a little bit too short pants. They ended the show with “Ai nante saishun” which is really good as well. It was a really nice live!

Welcome! This is not an actual news site but a personal blog, run by an ordinary person who loves visual kei. This is my space where I ventilate thoughts and values and shares happenings within the scene. My goal is to make information easy to access and to support artists and movements that I admire. Especially smaller bands that need an extra push in the djungle of major bands. English is not my native tounge so please condone my linguistic mistakes.
