Personal concert review: KILLANETH at Ikebukuro Black Hole (Sept 24th)

And hi again!
This is one of my personal posts. On September 24th I went to a whole-day-visual-key event at Ikebukuro Black Hole (Tokyo) called “Dark in the DarkVol.45~ジャック in the ハンター2016”.

There was 14 bands performing and I will give you my review about almost each and everyone of them, but in separate posts (takes time to write them all). But you can see all current ones at this link!

13th and and second last band on stage was: KILLANETH
They had ALMOST the same look as on the picture below.

Now, this was a band that I was super curious about. Mostly because I really like the music I’ve heard so far and their look fascinates me.

I must say that I was positively surprised!

I’ve been following kai, the vocalist, on Twitter and imagined him as young and a bit immature. Always these “look at my abs and skinny torso”- or “sticking my tongue out and look mischievous”- or “yes, my skin is super smooth thanks to overly used skin-smudging smart phone apps” pics. But this guy dominating the stage was neither immature or young.

This was a man!

He was confident, radiant and professional, dramatic and emotional. He. Was. So. Cool.

Kai didn’t wear anything on his upper body and his thin waist ended in a shiny leather skirt with pants underneath. I know there’s a lot of discussions about his body shape, which is a sensitive topic, but I’m gonna speak my mind.

I don’t think he’s too skinny at all. Well, he’s skinny, but I’m convinced it’s NOT due to any eating disorder. It’s simply his body shape. You can see, due to his bones, that he’s a naturally slim man. His waist and hips are almost only half as wide as his shoulders – which actually looked a bit weird to me – but bones is really nothing he can modify himself. He’s born with a slim body shape and he’s thin. And that is totally OK. It suits him and his not afraid of showing it, so let’s just accept it.

I had no idea that I would find him so attractive. During the show, his hair was pinned to the sides which enhanced his eyes even more. Please see his selfies from this night above.

Saku’s hair was red this night, instead of yellow, but he still wore his horns. His eyes were sky-blue and he had something vein-like painted around his face.

Nihit is a true beauty and has colored his hair dark. It really suits him and makes him less of a  “MEJIBRAY-MiA”-look-alike ^_-. He had sharp red lips and wore a big necklace.

The music was heavy, hard and super great. Kai’s singing was perfect, both in clean melodic and growling parts. Since insanity is a popular topic within visual kei circles, it didn’t surprise me that he suddenly burst out in a crazy laughter and somehow continued to sing while laughing at the same time and ending it all with a strange sound and gesture as if he was going to vomit.

At one point, Kai hit his chest with the fist and stepped up on the ledge to – without any hesitation or warning at all – simply fall backward like a chopped down tree!

For a while I couldn’t see much of him, only a swaying leg and a shoe. During the fall, and even while lying on the floor, he kept singing without any struggle. I was so amazed.

And so up again on the ledge. He leaned forward with his hands on his knees and made my favorite kind of head-banging, that one when the head rolls round and round in circles. He made us sit down on our knees in front of him to do the same thing. It’s funny, ’cause every time I go down on my knees for a band, it feels like I’m praying. ^_- To be honest, I started to get week after 8 hours of concert and insufficient supplies of food and water. I got pretty dizzy.

When the song ended it felt like there was going to be more, but instead did Kai – all over again – throw himself backwards and the curtain covered the stage. We all were like: “What?”

KILLANETH was exciting and fascinating to watch, a pure delight to listen to – and Kai is no doubt a fantastic entertainer. I understand why KILLANETH has become popular so fast and I believe that they are here to stay for a while. I sure hope so! 🙂
