And last post about this night….
This is one of my personal reviews. On September 24th I went to a whole-day-visual-key event at Ikebukuro Black Hole (Tokyo) called “Dark in the DarkVol.45～ジャック in the ハンター2016”.
There was 14 bands performing and I’ve given you my review about almost each and everyone of them in separate posts. You find them all at this link!
Finally it was time for the 14th and last band – and also my number one this evening: Gossip
They had the same look as on the picture below:
I saw Gossip once last year at Takadanobaba AREA and knew that I HAD to see them again. I’m totally in love with their music, attitude and context.
One part of me found it a bit disturbing that they played last, even though it’s pretty obvious. But I don’t want to be drained of energy when my favorite band finally arrives. Well, I may be old but I’m also stubborn. I fought to the end.
The curtain covered the stage for several minutes while Saku screamed at us from the other side. Since my Japanese is extremely poor I don’t know what he said but I could see the excitement in the eyes of other fans.
When the curtain finally revealed the stage I got surprised that they didn’t wore the same clothes as on their official photos. Saku wore this typical Japanese school backpack (just like Karasuna Mei in Kuroyuri To Kage did a while ago), a pair of round glasses and had a dirty bandage around his wrist, partly hanging loose. He truly looked like a young Ruki (the GazettE). Satsuki’s hair was bright red and perfectly styled.
They all wore the same white t-shirt as they sold as merchandise and black jackets (see flyer above).
Saku stomped around on stage like a cocky child and filled the room with his intense, lively and crazy energy. He seemed much more confident this time than last year. I think they’ve grown much bigger in the visual kei scene.
Saku danced and moved around like a ball of energy, suddenly grabbing his hair like he was about to turn insane. They all had a wonderful contact with the audience and Saku made – just like Ruki does sometimes – this stiff Robit-like dance. When we clapped, Saku clapped too, but since his right hand held the mike, he clapped his face with the other hand.
Due to all dancing, Saku’s backpack fell off and hanged a bit loose, so he took it off and put in on in front instead. He looked funny and held it intensively like it was extremely valuable. It turned dark and a spotlight fell on him while he dropped down on his knees.
As I said, I was extremely tired at this point, but Gossip tends to fill me with new energy. So I didn’t mind all wild furi, like running back and forth to the sides over and over again – which I usually hate :-P.
Saku even offered us a bit of fan-service, as he sensually touched his groin, followed by grabbing it with a sense of frustration and finally pull his shirt like if he was about to lose it. Then he humped the microphone stand.
He more or less forced poor Zero, the bassist, to sing for a while and I can verify that there’s a reason why Zero play bass and isn’t the singer. Saku also demanded ritsu, the drummer, to scream something over and over again – but ritsu got bored after a while.
When the show was over, Saku threw his beloved backpack on the floor and so they all went out and left us standing there, exhausted but happy.
Gossip was entertaining, fun and awesome as always, and I learned new fun furi this night thanks to them. I hope I will get the chance to practice it again. 🙂
Of course I had to buy some of their CDs that I didn’t have before. ❤
