Anime recommendation: Samurai Champloo

I am absolutely in LOVE with this anime. As soon as I had watched the last episode, I wanted to forget about the whole series so I could watch it again.

Yes, probably one of the best animes I’ve ever watched so my tip to you is to SEE IT! ^^

Samurai Champloo

Samurai Champloo was aired 2004 and consists of 26 episodes. It’s directed by Shinichiro Watanabe who also made Cowboy Bebop (a popular anime among most, but unfortunately not my cup of tea…)

The series tells the story about a young girl called Fuu. One day she meet two warriors: the rebellious Mugen and the ronin Jin (Ronin ~ samurai without master). Fuu saves the men from being executed and in return they promise to follow her on a long journey looking for the “samurai who smells like sunflowers”. They also promise her to not kill each other before the journey is done.

Samurai Champloo

This is not a “regular” samurai anime so don’t get disappointed by incorrect historical details (that are consciously added) and the hip hop music. Yes, I know, it sounds a bit strange – but somehow it all works perfectly together.

Samurai Champloo

It’s funny and exciting and the characters are multidimensional – you can sense a depth in them and imagine feelings and values under a quite harsh surface.

Welcome! This is not an actual news site but a personal blog, run by an ordinary person who loves visual kei. This is my space where I ventilate thoughts and values and shares happenings within the scene. My goal is to make information easy to access and to support artists and movements that I admire. Especially smaller bands that need an extra push in the djungle of major bands. English is not my native tounge so please condone my linguistic mistakes.
