“I was constantly homesick”/Ruki about the world tour (Interview)

Vocal: Ruki (the GazettE)

Original interview in Japanese

What’s the theme of this album?
Ruki: We wanted to make an album about “the GazettE”.

Did you decide the album title after completing the songs? Or did you write the songs after the theme of the title?
Ruki: We had the title before creating the songs. There isn’t a concept for the songs. The songs have the feeling of each of our personalities.

In this album, you wanted to mostly express yourselves personally. What was the thing you were most particular about?
Ruki: Our personalities as band members and our individuality. We focused on combining those.

Was there anything you experimented with for the first time on this album?
Ruki: We didn’t experiment with anything new. We put our current selves out there.

CODA is an ending song where the subject is all the different themes, but what does this mean?
Ruki: It’s just that. I’ll leave it to the listener’s imagination.

Can you give us a memory of the World Tour?
Ruki: We were happy that we got to meet fans from all over the world. From now on, I hope we can experience again what we did on the World Tour.

Did you get homesick overseas? And how do you deal with that?
Ruki: I was constantly homesick. How I dealt with it? Perseverance!

What kind of year was 2013 for you?
Ruki: This year was concentrated on lives and making songs. I don’t know about next year, but I wonder how the 2013 tour will be.
