The ADAMS concert in Cologne at MTC

Wohoooo, we got some HOT FAN SERVICE! Keep reading and watching! 🙂

I took the train from Hamburg to Cologne in order to see ADAMS perform at club MTC July 12th. Last time I was at MTC I saw Amaranyx.

I came from the Deathgaze concert to this and afterwards I can say that it has been two AMAZING concerts but SO different from each other in many ways! A perfect combo for a trip oversea I must say. ^^ I’m pleased.

I met a friend in Cologne and we brought 2 new friends (who had a dog and two rats) with us to the concert. We had a great time, so thank you!

ADAMS is a band consisting of two people:
Adam: lead singer
Shota: backup singer, guitar, producer

They have recently become very popular in Europe among jrock people, which gladdens me enormously. You can tell though that they still are very young on stage, but their music is very well done, catchy, sexy and beautiful and delivered with such passion. The first song I heard with ADAMS was Boku no sei, and I still cries when I hear it and watch the video. Please take a look at it HERE.

I had VIP ticket to the ADAMS show which means that I could enter the club earlier, buy my merchandise and get a photo with the band + meet them during a signing session before the concert.

When I jumped up on the stage to them I said “Konnbanwa! Suweeden jin desu” which was my way to greet them and tell that I’m from Sweden. I heard later that I was the only one who put my arms around them during the photo shoot, but of course I asked them first if it was OK.

Afterwards I could sign the fan sheet for the band and here you can see them posing with it. I hope the gift made them happy. ^^

I bought the Bittersweet CD and some very nice photos. When it was time for signing session I greeted them again “Konnichiwa. Genki desu ka?” and they answered “Genki desu”. Adam was smiling and Shota said “You are good at Japanese” (which is not true, but it made me glad to hear). He asked me something in Japanese that I didn’t understand and I got desperate: “Wakarimasen! Wakarimasen!” Adam laughed again. In even more poor Japanese I continued with saying “Koko ni ikimasu, ADAMS o mimasu” which probably is as wrong as it can be, but I wanted to say that I went to Cologne just to see them. I hope that made them happy. I said: “Next time Sweden!” and I hope that will be true.

Unfortunately I didn’t bring any gifts from Sweden, but I had some chocolate for Adam and Lucky Strikes to Shota. ^_- It seemed like they got A LOT of chocolate from the fans. My friend from Sweden brought them Swedish honey. I hope they like that! ^^ Later they posted this pic on Facebook:

It’s very hard to guess their age. They looked so perfect both of them; a very handsome couple with perfect skin. No sign of age whatsoever. They must be 30 years old or younger. But… it’s so hard to guess the age of Japanese. They got miracle skin.

Shota had really nice makeup in blue while Adam went more natural with simple eyeliner. He has very beautiful white teeth (why am I always talking about the singer’s teeth^! I should stop doing that. ^_-)

Time for concert and I got a good spot in the middle on the second row. They started the show with “Checkmate!!” and I think it’s been a long time since I heard girls scream so mush – and so loud! Yayks!

What surprised me was that Shota and Adam sang almost equally much, backing each other up and singing different musical parts. Adam is the lead singer though and Shota was mostly “rapping” (I think that’s what I can call it). But when you see in the video below that Shota or Adam aren’t really singing in the microphone, it’s because the other one was singing at the moment while the other mimicked for fun.

They were both really sexy in front of the audience, but I believe Adam tempted us the most with sexy postures and squinty eyes. They seemed to have so much fun up there and the audience was crazy about everything they did. When they performed Boys and girls, Adam and Shota danced para para (so cute) and when it was time for Dizzy love, the fans screamed even louder (like if that was possible!?)

During Sweet Dreams it started to get really hot between Shota and Adam (haha) which you can see in the videos below. But they were just warming up…. ^_- You will see…

I’m so glad that they performed Boku no sei. It was really emotional and AH, it’s sooo beautiful. *sob sob* During one song, Shota surprisingly took off his sunglasses and threw them to a happy girl in the audience.

We had to call them in on stage two times with encore. After the first one, Shota told us that they would play a song that was very, veeeeeery important to ADAMS. It was “Stand up”. They asked us to stretch out our arms towards the sky, which we did. I must say that Shota spoke very good English. At least he had really good pronunciation.

After the second encore they performed with One and Only which I think is a pretty new song. I like it.

They played a lot of songs, much more than I thought they would play. 13 of them! This is the setlist that I remember:

ADAMS Setlist Cologne July 12th 2013
1. Checkmate!!
2. Boys and girls
3. Kissin in the dark
4. Dizzy love
5. Like a dance
6. Go (New song that I really like)
7. Sasayaki (New song)
8. Romance
9. Bittersweet
10. Sweet Dreams
11. Boku no sei
[ENCORE]
12. Stand up
[ENCORE]
13. One and Only

In the end they were smiling so much. They seemed to have such a good time and that made me so happy. Adam looked like a kid on Christmas Eve.

Happy Adam (ADAMS)

After last encore, they were kind of looking at each other, smiling, a bit insecure, like… “Shall we…?” And then they kissed. For quite long. It was very hot and the audience went wild. I feel like a dirty old woman when saying this but… eeeeeh…. That was nice to see. I think I got enough fan service for the rest of this year. ^^ *drooling*

The show was over but we had another opportunity to shake their hands before leaving. I shake Shotas hand first, telling him that their music is lovely and that I’ve been in contact with him before about the Adams news videos that me and my friend Hide translated into English and he remembered. He also remembered that I was from Sweden. I gave him a hug and when it was time to talk to Adam he looked at us and made a gesture of feeling short. Ha ha. Well, Shota is REALLY tall. Much taller than me! We laughed about it. I gave Adam a hug as well and said for one last time; See you in Sweden.

Here is some film clips from this night:

I felt like a schoolgirl for the rest of the night. ^^ We met some really friendly German couple that treated us beer and pizza and we had a lovely time. THANK YOU! You are awesome!

  1. I can relate to your experiences so well.
First I went to ADAMS in Berlin on July 13th and two days later I went to DEATHGAZE’s concert in Munich. Both lives impressed me so much in so different ways. I totally fell in love with ADAMS! They are so lovely and cute and sexy and I could watch and listen to them forever! ❤ DEATHGAZE on the other hand were so powerful and energetic and even when I had almost no energy left I still jumped and screamed and banged my head because I just couldn't stop. Amazing~ ❤

    • It’s really cool that people went to both concerts, even though they were so different from each other! ^^

      • Yeah, that’s great! ^^ Lots of people stick to just one genre of music but they really should listen to whatever they like and don’t care about the genre. I personally listen to J-Rock since almost 10 years but these days I’m more into K-Pop. As soon as they announced DEATHGAZE would come to Europe I was the first one to buy a ticket even though I didn’t listen to them a long time but I waited for them so long and it wasn’t a waste of money, time and effort (I had to travel ~800km from where I live to Munich!) to go and see them live! I would do this again! ❤
..or maybe I'm just crazy or to much in love with the bands I really like. I even traveled once from Germany to UK to see one of my favourite bands live! I just want to give them something back so I support them by visited their concert no matter where they play! ;D

      • Ha ha, same here. I’m willing to travel too. I went to Japan to see the GazettE. 🙂

Welcome! This is not an actual news site but a personal blog, run by an ordinary person who loves visual kei. This is my space where I ventilate thoughts and values and shares happenings within the scene. My goal is to make information easy to access and to support artists and movements that I admire. Especially smaller bands that need an extra push in the djungle of major bands. English is not my native tounge so please condone my linguistic mistakes.
