And now… finally. The L’arc~en~ciel gig!
I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a VIP-ticket (and I worked hard for it), so I got the most perfect view on the balcony in the Indig02 arena, right in front of the scene.
The arena was sold out and I was surrounded by Asian people, mostly Japaneses. Since there had been an accident with the VIP package:
– Souvenir ticket
– Souvenir program
– Souvenir towel
…we had to fill in a paper with addresses and such and I noted that a lot of people had traveled here from Japan. (Which I never received… -_-)
Even though the arena was sold out, I was lucky enough to get an EMPTY seat right in front of me (I sat on the second row), so there was actually no obstacles at all between me and the stage. *yay* I thought about messing Alan about it since I knew his seat was further back in the arena, but I also knew he wouldn’t take it since he had company.
The concert started very epic with a cool intro on the big screen and the audience got absolutely crazy when the members entered the stage.
Apparently, this was their very first concert in London. When I look at their tour destinations, it mostly seems to be places in Asia or the US:
3/3 Hong Kong, China
7/3 Bangkok, Thai
10/3 Shanghai, China
17/3 Taipei, Taiwan
25/3 New York, USA
11/4 London, UK
14/4 Paris, France
28/4 Singapore, Singapore
2/5 Jakarta, Indonesia
5/5 Soul, Korea
12/5 Yokohama, Japan
13/5 Yokohama, Japan
19/5 Osaka, Japan
20/5 Osaka, Japan
26/5 Tokyo, Japan
27/5 Tokyo, Japan
31/5 Honolulu, Hawaii
Tetsu, Ken and Yukihiro actually starts to look a bit affected by time… but Hyde… shit… he does NOT look like he’s 43! Such a baby-face. A lot of photos are retouched for sure, but now I’ve seen it for real – his face are as young and beautiful as ever. I start to believe that he’s the real vampire, not Gackt! ^_-
They played so many awesome songs. I believe this was the set-list:
Ibara no Namida
Good Luck My Way
Drink It Down
Hitomi no Juunin
My Heart Draws a Dream
Ready Steady Go
~ encore ~
When they played Daybreak’s bell I got all teary, ’cause that song means so much for me. When I used to live in Skövde and had these rough days, I used to take a run towards the mountain, listening to Daybreak’s bell and try to focus on all good things in life. I remember one day as I was running and crying. Daybreak’s bell started playing and suddenly the dark clouds over the mountain broke up and the sun penetrated through with light beams as if it was a divine message. I will never forget it, ’cause I instantly started to laugh instead.
When they played Anata, they displayed the lyric on the big screen and everybody sang along. It was so emotional and beautiful.
Here they perform in in New York. You must see is. So emotional.
I had Hyde’s spotlight right behind me, so I could constantly see my own arms on the stage. That truly felt weird, and when I clapped and waved I saw that my shadow repeatedly covered Hyde’s eyes. I tried to not interfere too much but since I noticed I could make shadow figures on stage, I just couldn’t help myself from giving Hyde a “steady-heart” (shaped by my hands) over his chest when they were playing Anata. I’m sure people must have noticed. Alan said that he saw it and wondered who the heck did it. Hi hi, it was me! So I guess I’m going to buy their tour-DVD (’cause they had cameras everywhere) and see if me or my shadow-heart is in it. ^_-)
He shot at us with a water-gun (looking like a shimmering banana), and then he threw bananas at us (real ones). I wonder what I would do if I would catch any. I think they are hard to store for a longer period… And I mean… you can’t really eat something that special, right? That would be blasphemous. ^_-
Both Hyde, Tetsu and Ken spoke some English with us. Even though they are such a successful band, they seemed very humble and charming. Ken gave Tetsu a gift (I don’t know why ’cause his birthday is in October), but it was one of these inflatable “sleeping-pillows” for travels, patterned with the UK-flag.. and also some UK-colored tights. 😉
Both Tetsu, Ken and Yukihiro gave us amazing solos…
One purple band landed on my neck and I kept it.
This was such an amazing concert and I will never forget it. This is the biggest Japanese band I’ve seen so far. They have been active for 20 years now, and I hope for 20 more. And I’m SURE that Hyde will look just as gorgeous when he’s 63! ^_-
This was my outfit for the night. The top and dress was originally bought (the top I found on Second Hand for 20 SEK), but I’ve modified and decorated the pieces a lot.
And this T-shirt! very surprising, the Small-size was very big so I will need to put some work on it at home. Usually, japanese mechandise T-shirts are extremely small (since japaneses are small I guess). You buy an XL T-shirt but can hardly squeeze into it. But maybe L’arc~en~ciel was prepared for the “fat europeans”. ^_-
Here’s two fan videos that I found from the show:
Thank you, L’arc~en~ciel! ♥ ♥ ♥
