Holy Grail – the Versailles concert

Finally, the day was here. The day of the Versailles concert. I’ve been longing to see them again since last time in Oslo: Versailles concert 26 June 2010

I went  to the Angel area in Islington and the O2 Academy building. I was quite surprised that there wasn’t more people queuing for the concert. It was a quite humble amount of people, just like it uses to be in Sweden.

Seeing Versailles live again was amazing. I really LOVE their music, which might be described like neo-classical power metal.

Kamijo, the singer, looked like a god as always, a noble vampire as he is. So did the drummer Yuki. Teru had this amazing hair and Hizaki a beautiful white dress. This time, the new bassist Masashi got a more notable part in the band. Last time he didn’t do any entrance, just stood in the background with regular clothes.

This time, he was dressed up in a renaissance style like the others and interacted more with the audience. I like it and I believe it’s hard to replace someone like their previous bass player Jasmine.

They mostly played songs from the newest album – Holy Grail.

This was the setlist:

1. MASQUERADE
2. ASCENDEAD MASTER
3. Judicial Noir
4. Flowery
5. Glowing Butterfly
6. Love will be born again
7. Faith and Decision
8. Vampire
9. DRY ICE SCREAM!! [Remove Silence]
10. DESTINY -the lovers-
11. The Red Carpet Day

[Encore]

12. Remember Forever
13. Philia

When Kamijo stood alone on the stage, singing “Love will be born again” I got pretty emotional. It was so wonderful live. I had expected them to play The Revenant Choir, but apparently they didn’t because there would be a Meet&Greet session afterwards.

Hizaki was cute as a doll and graceful like always, but he really shocked me just before the encore.

Suddenly he stage-dived!

Who could imagine him doing that?! That little fragile girly boy? Very daring I must say. Jrock-fans can be pretty dangerous when they get their hands on an idol.

Hizaki dived into the audience!!!

But he seemed to survive and actually smiled when he got back on stage. Impressive! ^^

The beautiful memory of this concert will be kept in my heart forever. I hope I’ll get a chance to see them again.

Welcome! This is not an actual news site but a personal blog, run by an ordinary person who loves visual kei. This is my space where I ventilate thoughts and values and shares happenings within the scene. My goal is to make information easy to access and to support artists and movements that I admire. Especially smaller bands that need an extra push in the djungle of major bands. English is not my native tounge so please condone my linguistic mistakes.
