I told you about Harajuku in a previous enter. That’s one of my goal destinations in Japan this summer. Another place in Tokyo that I just have to visit is Akihabara, also known as Akihabara Electric Town, since it’s known as a district for technology.
In Akihabara, there is stores everywhere for all kind of electronic stuff, computers, consoles, mobiles, microsized cameras etc. It’s heaven for people who love electronic gadgets and computers. There’s actually a whole block just for Playstation.
Akihabara (which means “Field of Autumn Leaves” and often called Akiba) is also known for its major supply of OTAKU GOODS! ^^ (Otaku = a person who is obsessed about something, mostly manga, anime, cosplay etc.)
Some people consider some stuff in Akihabara to be a bit twisted or provocative. You must be prepared to see naked otaku-girlfriends (dolls) in the windows. You can even buy body parts in plastic and assemble your own perfect partner in manga style. On the streets you’ll find Akihabara maids (young girls in cute outfits, sometimes referred to as the new millennium Geishas) shouting “Welcome home, master!”
I will love to stroll around in Akihabara, looking at all fascinating stuff. I can’t wait! (But no – I will not buy a plastic man… or parts of him. ^_-)
