Meeting ray in Shibuya

This tuesday it was time for me and Jessica to meet Ray (one of our focus artists) and his support guitarist. But first we enjoyed some extremely delicious salmon sashimi in Aoyama. Mmmm, I love it so much!

IMG_4790

And some udon noodles!

IMG_4791

And some spring rolls!

IMG_4792

Then we headed to Shibuya. Lot’s of people as always.

IMG_4794

We went by a pet shop with adorable dogs and cats…

In Shibuya we met Ray and together we went to a restaurant at which you could drink as much as you wanted for six hours. Absolutely crazy, that business idea would never work in Sweden. ^^

But we had such a good time and after a while, Yuki, ray’s support guitarist showed up as well. We enjoyed good food, like takoyaki (a favorite of mine, it’s fried octupus with mayonnaise).

takoyaki-14

We continued to a karaoke bar where we spent the whole night and sang ’til our throats hurt. Awesomely fun!

IMG_4795

Finally I’ve ended up at a karaoke bar in Tokyo. ^^ We missed the last subway of course and had to stay there ’til it opened again in the morning. But first, we restored our energies at a noodles restaurant.

We had a blast so I hope I’ll see these two guys again, very good people. ^^

I don’t want to go home to Sweden. I really don’t. This is painful. But soon we must go home…

Visual kei event in Ikebukuro Cyber

Today me and Jessica headed to Ikebukuro for another visual kei event. Today we were going to see palholic, Lil.y, Hisatan, Gimmick, Misaruka, The Gallo and Capella.

Very big building that looks like a cell phone in Ikebukuro. ^^

IMG_4750

But first we ate some FOOD! I love gyoza!

The venue (“Cyber”) was very very small. Like a garage. I think we were less than 50 people in the audience. So the concert became very intimiate and cozy.

First out was palholic/pastelholic/ (パスホリ). I have never heard about this band before. The singer was dressed in red and was very smiley and energetic. Maybe a little bit TOO smiley. ^^ The music was OK, but a little bit too soft for me.

pastelholic

Next was Lil.y. I liked them, since there was more screaming. I had heard about Lil.y before. They wore blue and white clothes. The singer had very sharp blue lenses. Me and Jessica did a good job to copy the furi. I think I will listen more to Lil.y when I come home.

Lil.y

Next was Hisatan (ひさたん) from FULL EFFECT and he entered the stage with a mask so we couldn’t see his face. Neither me or Jessica had heard about him before so we wanted to know what he looked like. Was he old? Young? He had a lot of fans in the audience that was screaming for him like crazy. His music included a lot of headbanging, so that was nice, but the rest was not that exiting. When he took off his mask we could see that he was a pretty young boy. He wore a simple hoodie and shorts, the less visual kei of tonight.

Next was Gimmick. They had quite funny clothes. The singer did not have that much charisma though. The bass-player was very small, dressed in baggy clothes, big black glasses and had big cute hair. He smiley constantly. Looked a little bit like a cute nerd to me. ^^ One of the guitar-players sang along very passionate to each song. It was fun to see Gimmick, but not that great that I wanted to buy a CD.

Gimmick

Next was Misaruka. When the curtain in front of the stage was removed and we could see their siluettes, they looked like giants compared to the other bands. Big hair and big dresses, like a Versailles replica. The singer was very cute. This was the first time I saw them live, Jessica had seen them three times before. I think their songs had funny furi and this was one of the best bands of tonight. During one song, everybody was supposed to run to the stage and kind of bump into each other, hard to explain. Jessica enjoyed this a lot, and the singer kind of grabbed her head and forced her to his lap. To me, it looked like Jessica tried to get loose, but couldn’t. But she returned smiley widely. Well, yes, he was good looking.

Misaruka

Next up was THE GALLO, my favorite band of this night. I had bever heard them before. They entered the stage with black capes, holding candles. Last entered the singer with a big scary black mask, looked a little bit like a gas-mask. But he threw it off quickly. THE GALLOs music was fast and heavy, a lot of headbanging – I liked it a lot. Definitely the best of tonight. One of the guitarists was pretty crazy. After a while he took off his shirt and ran down to the audiece. The singer told us to split and gather at each wall. Then we were supposed to jump into the middle and moshpit with the guitarist. He seemed to enjoy it a lot. He ran around among the girls and messed up their hair. Then we were split again, and demanded to start circling arount the guitarist.

THE GALLO

In the end the singer smudged his lipstick all over his face and chest. Sexy. I decided to buy one of their CDs, their music was good.

IMG_4755

And last out was Capella. Maybe the most popular band of tonight. I had heard about them before. Their music was OK, but not really my taste. A little bit too soft. But they were cute and smiley. The band will dispand this year.

Capella

Overall it was a pretty cool evening. It’s exciting to see bands you haven’t heard of before. :-) And Japanese concerts are so much more fun that European one.

I believe I’ve seen 15 bands during this Japan visit. That’s probably more that I saw during entire last year. ^^

And I bought some chekis of THE GALLO and Misaruka.

Meeting tezya in Ginza

Yesterday, me and Jessica went to Ginza to meet the singer tezya.

tezya Official Webpage

I think the hardest part when using Japanese subway is to pick the right exit. As you see, a single subway station can have LOTS of exits. This is for instance different exits from the Ginza station.

IMG_4732

We went to a restaurant first to eat Koshiage, Osaka style. It was different kind of fried food that we dipped in some kind of sause.

The round things is small eggs from the bird Uzura.

And this is fried bulb of lotus.

In the near, a kabuki theatre.

Then we continued to a bar where we drank a talked a lot. I had a really nice evening! Thank you tezya and Jess!

Eating raw chicken, Meiji shrine and Yoyogi

Yesterday was sunny and warm. First Jess and I headed to Tower Records in Shibuya, since Mejibray had just released their new DVD. I bought myself a Phantasmagoria DVD though. *happy*

IMG_4705

And look, YOHIO, a swedish artist among the jrock-CDs. ^_-

IMG_4706

Then we headed to the Meiji Shrine in Harajuku. The surrounding is really beautiful.

Big tori right? Can you see me in the bottom left? ^^

IMG_4707

We found a souvenir shop on our way back. I bought myself a wobbling cat and a small musicbox. The Japanese cookies and Hello Kitty mirror will be presents for family.

And after that we continued to Yoyogi park that is located in the same area.

Stuntman show!

So much sakura!! Finally I have experienced hanami in Japan, a dream of mine.

IMG_4716

Don’t throw yourself into a tube carriage for a piece of cake! ^^

IMG_4719

Then we headed to Suitengumae to meet Hiroaki (singer in I -アイ-) and a Ryusuke (singer in Doukoku). We had a really nice time!

We got served raw chicken!!! Something a sane Swede would never eat I’m sure. But we tried it and I loved it. I think I ate a little bit too much raw chicken to be honest…

IMG_4720

I love Japanese food.

IMG_4721

In Japan it’s not unusual to see businessmen sleeping in public places. Japan is a very safe country but the people simply work too much…

IMG_4722

On our way home, me and Jessica ended up in Roppongi since the subway got closed. But we managed to get home safe. ^^

Shopping in Akihabara and okonomiyaki in Ikebukuro!

Yesterday, me and Jess headed to Akihabara for some souvenir shopping to family and friends. But we did also do some shopping for ourselves.

Me for instance found these cute cats.

IMG_4668

And this cute anime figure. It has somehow become a tradition for me to buy an anime figure each time in Japan. ^^ I don’t remember her name right now though.

IMG_4665

Later we headed to Ikebukuro to meet Hiroaki (I -アイ-), David and Stephany. We went to a Japanese restaurant where we could eat and drink as much as we wanted for a certain price. Gosh, I ate and drank so much. Mmmm. Okonomiyaki!

And I got the opportunity to try out this “natto” that everybody talks about.

We had such a nice time! Thank you all!

IMG_4667

It’s strange that the subway and train closes so early in such a big city as Tokyo. At midnight we always have to head home, and it feels too early.

It’s not often I see an empty tube carriage like this…

IMG_4666

What to do when your drunk friend falls on the track. Don’t go after him – press the button!

VelBet’s last live (Shibuya)

I’ve seen two band during this Japan visit that I used to think I never would see live. The first one was GRIEVA. And the other one was VelBet.

I saw VelBet this evening. And it was their last live ever, since they will disband. A very emotional night. I will come back to this…

Velbet

But first, me and Jessica made a short visit to Harajuku this morning for some shopping. I found following:

Bracelet, hide-necklace, hide pin and black mouth masks.

IMG_4647

I also bought this beautiful hide-figure. HIDE YOUR FACE

Jessiva found this cool glasses.

IMG_4633

It was sunny and warm and very crowded. We strolled down Takeshita Street and ended up at Laforet. We had to take a look at the visual kei store “Like an Edison”.

Um… a lot of teddy bears that holds up their own loose heads seems popular right now….

IMG_4651

Reasons why you can not smoke on the street in Japan…

Anyway, later I headed to Shibuya for VelBet concert. It took place at Shibuya O-west. I saw that Alcatraz was located next to it – a restaurant with theme mental hospital. I would like to go there… Hope Jessica will join me.

Outside O-West

IMG_4652

IMG_4653

IMG_4654

I bought some photo-cards and chekis with VelBet.

The band has been active for five years (2009 – 2014). Now it’s gonna end. It’s so sad.

The arena was quite small. I think we were about 400 people there. I got a good spot with a good view and even though the hall was pretty crowded, there was some space between the rows. That makes it easier to dance to the music.

IMG_4655

I found it pretty cool to see them live. I feel truly blessed and I’m so happy that I have the opportunity to experience things like this. I realised that this would be a passionate night.

And that’s the true word of this evening – passion – ’cause the band rocked so so hard and gave absolutely everything. The whole atmosphere screamed “last time”.

I truly love Riuki’s voice and I think he is so cute. He wore a black and white shirt and a colorful jacket. His hair was sprayed up in the back so it looked like a gloria, he looked like a lion. The same kind of hairdo that Ruki (The GazettE) used to have. Kaie looked very much like Uruha and Yuuna looked very much like Aoi. If you squinted with your eyes, it actually looked like you were watching the GazettE.

In Europe, you do whatever you want at a concert, but at a Japanese gig, you’re part of a bigger system and the entire audience makes the same moves at the same time. The dance moves is called furi. It’s almost like aggressive and loving aerobics (ha ha), or watching an audience street dance. I think it’s very fashinating. I tried to copy the furi as good as I could but sometimes it was very complicated. But it was fun and I enjoyed it all, even though you get very tired fast. Jump, headbang, run back and forth… I will truly have an aching neck tomorrow, we headbanged so much.

I’m in love with this band. Riuki forgot a little bit of the lyric once and after that he got the cutest big smile. Watching the entire band headbang together was wonderful. Ryohei reminds me a little bit of a young Pata (X-Japan) by some reason.

Suddenly it started to rain “cherry blossom petals” over us. It was very beautiful.

VelBet's last live

I the middle of the show, all band members left the stage except Natsuka. He gave us a wonderful drumsolo, made us clap our hands in certain rythms and shout.

Then all members came back again and continued playing. I’m so glad that they played favorite songs of mine like: Tokyo (東京), Yuusetsu Monochrome, Youthful days and Toshin Dai no Bokura (等身大の僕ら).

Then it was time for encore. We shouted and shouted.

Suddenly they lowered a giant screen over the stage and the entire audience sat down on the floor. We watched photos and movieclips from 2009 to 2014 where VelBet was performing live or kidding around backstage.

Then we saw an audience and it took a while before I realised that it was us. We stood up and waved. It was crazy to see myself there on the wall. Then the camera filmed the band backstage and followed them out on stage. Now they wore band-t-shirts.

The played more songs. Riuki sprouted water on us and I got some very appreciated drops on my face. It was so warm in there! This time it rained plastic silver ribbons on us. They played a song with the most exhausting furi. I thought I was going to die. Riuki did stagedived twice. Ryohei once. ^^

Then another encore. It took a while before they came back and performed Toshin Dai no Bokura as the last song. It was very emotional. I wondered why Riuki’s voice suddenly became so weak. Then I saw that tears fell down from his face. He was crying! He made the audience sing the refrain for him and I saw how everybody in the audience cried intensively. It was a quite painful moment.

When the song was over, the drummer sat on the floor and cried. The bassist stood there, like paralyzed, not wanting to take off his bass. He cried the most of them all. Shit, I felt so sorry for them. They all held a speach for us and I really wished that I could understand what they said. When it was time for Ryohei to speak, he couldn’t say a word, ’cause he was crying so much. Riuki gave him a hug and that was sweet.

Then they threw picks , waterbottles and drumsticks to us. They also threw a way a bunch of… I don’t know the word for it, you know, the upper part of a drum, the lid, that the drummer hits. They were signed and they threw them away like freesbees. I wish I could have caught one but I didn’t.

This have been a wonderful night, very emotional. I’m so, so happy that I got the opportunity to see them…

I will never forget this night.

Robots and pole-dancers in Shinjuku

Japanese breakfast!

IMG_4566

Today has been a very rainy day, so me and Hide went first to Shibuya. Jessica was sick and had to stay in bed. :-(

Me and Hide went to Taito Station, an archade, and played some games.

I enjoyed most playing a horrorgame in a dark “booth” with 3D-glasses. I actually got so scared in the beginning that I screamed loudly. *embarassed*

I got some Natsume Yuujinchou figures in a toy machine. ^^

IMG_4593

And me and Hide took some purikura photos.

In Tokyo, they put a stand with long plastic bags outside each shop, so you wont bring your wet umbrella in – you put it in the bag. Very smart.

IMG_4574

Then we went to a sushi restaurant. I would not have been able to order here by myself. ^^

IMG_4575

It was soooo good!

IMG_4576

Then it was time for the big event of today. Please scroll down to watch movies.

IMG_4577

Me and Hide went to Shinjuku and a place called “Robot Restaurant”. It’s a place were you can eat food and drink while watching a crazy show with “robots”, half-naked girls and pole dancers.

I had to buy a shirt in Shibuya to cover me up, ’cause you are not welcome at that place if you have tattoos. But later I spotted a poledancer with a big tattoo, so I feel a little bit cheated. ^_-

This was truly a special place, so much light and colors.

Apparanly, building this place cost 10 billion yen!!!

On our way in, the staff asked me if I wanted to participate in the show and fight a robot, but I said no. It was another girl who did it and she was a gaijin like me, so I guess they ask female foreigners for that part. ^^

While waiting for the show we had cute robot-dinasours on the table.

IMG_4582

As food we got bento boxes! I could also order beer.

IMG_4583

If you visit Tokyo, I recommend you to go to Robot Restaurant in Shinjuku. It’s a really fun an crazy experience.

Me and Hide enjoyed it very much.

IMG_4591

And here I’m posing with a giant robot.

IMG_4592

Here you can watch some clips from the show!

Akihabara and Shibuya

Today, my friend Hide arrived to Tokyo. He lives in Osaka.

We went to Akihabara for a short visit. Akihabara is one of my favorite areas.
